🍦 One event. Two competitions. A whole lot of dessert. 🧁
The Calhoun County Blue Line Foundation is excited to introduce something brand new for summer 2027 — the Inaugural Scoops & Sweets Dessert Competition!
We’re bringing together home bakers, churches, community groups, businesses, restaurants, ice cream shops and anyone else with a dessert worth bragging about for an afternoon dedicated to all things sweet.
And yes — this competition is open to everyone.
Whether your recipe came from your grandmother’s kitchen, your church cookbook, your own imagination or the menu of the dessert shop you own, we want you to bring it.
🍦 The Scoops Competition
If it’s frozen and it’s delicious, it belongs here.
Competitors can enter virtually any type of frozen dessert, including:
- Ice cream
- Gelato
- Frozen yogurt
- Sorbet
- Sherbet
- Or another frozen creation all your own
Bring as much as you’d like to share with our guests — just be sure to save enough for the judges!
Sample cups will be provided for guests, and electrical access for competitors requiring power to keep their entries frozen is planned as part of the event setup.
🧁 The Sweets Competition
Not frozen? No problem.
Our Sweets Competition is open to any sweet, non-frozen dessert.
Cake, pie, brownies, cookies, bars, pastries or that one dessert everyone begs you to bring to every family gathering — if you’re proud of it, bring it.
There are no professional credentials required. Businesses and professional bakers are welcome, but so are individuals, churches, organizations and groups who simply make something really good.

But the judges aren’t getting all the power.
❤️ You Choose the People’s Choice!
Every paid admission will include a People’s Choice voting ticket, giving guests the opportunity to vote for their favorite dessert of the day — frozen OR baked.
And if one vote simply isn’t enough?
Additional People’s Choice tickets will be available for purchase, so yes, you can absolutely stuff the ballot box for your favorite.
At the end of the event, we’ll crown one dessert the Overall People’s Choice Winner!
🍨 Come Hungry — Admission Is Just $10
Your $10 admission includes a set of tasting cups that you can use to sample entries throughout the competition, along with your People’s Choice vote.
Find something you absolutely love and need more than a sample? Participating desserts may also be available in larger bowls or portions for purchase.
🍔 Too Much Sweet? We’ve Got You.
Eventually even the biggest sweet tooth needs a break.
The Blue Line Café will be open during the event with savory food and other items available for purchase, so you can reset those taste buds before heading back for another round of dessert.
💙 Sweet Treats. Serious Purpose.
Like all Calhoun County Blue Line Foundation fundraising events, Scoops & Sweets has a purpose beyond having a really good excuse to eat dessert.
Proceeds from the event will support the Calhoun County Blue Line Foundation and our mission to help provide local law enforcement agencies with training, equipment and resources beyond what traditional agency budgets can provide.
